An NTN (National Tax Number) is the registration number the FBR issues to identify you as a taxpayer. You need one before you can file an income tax return, appear on the Active Taxpayer List, or register a business for tax. We handle the registration end to end.

NTN Registration — Salaried
Completion time: 1 – 2 working days · Fee: Rs. 1,500/-
Send your documents on WhatsApp — for most salaried registrations that is just a CNIC copy and a recent electricity bill.
We complete your registration on the FBR IRIS portal.
You receive your NTN and login credentials for IRIS.
File your first return to appear on the Active Taxpayer List — registration alone does not make you a filer.
Frequently asked questions
What is an NTN?
The National Tax Number is the identifier the FBR issues to a registered taxpayer. For individuals in Pakistan, the CNIC number generally serves as the NTN once you are registered. Businesses and entities receive their own registration.
Does registering for an NTN make me a filer?
No, and this is the most common misunderstanding. Registration gets you into the system. You become a “filer” — that is, you appear on the Active Taxpayer List — only after you file an income tax return for the relevant tax year. We can file that return for you.
How long does NTN registration take?
For salaried and business registrations we typically complete it in 1 – 2 working days once we have your documents. Partnership and AOP registrations are usually the same; NPO registrations take 2 – 3 working days because more documentation is involved.
Do freelancers need an NTN?
If you are earning income and want to file a return, be on the ATL, or invoice clients formally, then yes. Most freelancers register under the business category rather than the salaried one.
Can you register an NTN for someone in Islamabad?
Yes. Our office is in Rawalpindi and we work with clients across Islamabad and the Twin Cities daily. Registration is done through the FBR IRIS portal, so nothing requires you to travel.
What if I already have an NTN but have never filed?
That is a common position. You are registered but not on the Active Taxpayer List. Tell us which years are outstanding and we will advise on bringing your filings up to date.
Our office is in Rawalpindi, at Office # 1-2, 2nd Floor, Al-Ain Plaza, Airport Link Road. We serve clients across Islamabad and the Twin Cities, and throughout Pakistan. Islamabad is a service area, not a second office — everything can be handled remotely by WhatsApp, email and the FBR IRIS portal, or in person at the Rawalpindi office by appointment.
Tax rates, thresholds, deadlines and penalties change with each Finance Act. We do not reproduce them here. Check the current position directly with the Federal Board of Revenue, or ask us to confirm it for your situation:
